'His saying - glorified and exalted is He -: ﴿And this is the path of your Lord, straight. We have detailed the signs for a people who remember.﴾ ﴿For them is the abode of peace with their Lord, and He is their protector because of what they used to do.﴾ "And this"; refers to the Qur'an; and the legislation that Muhammad - blessings and peace be upon him - brought; as Ibn Abbas said; and "the path"; means the way; and the addition of the path to the Lord indicates that it is from Him, the Most High; and by His command; and "straight"; is a confirming state; and it is not like the state in your saying: "Zayd came riding"; rather, this confirming state includes the intended meaning. And "We have detailed"; its meaning is: We have clarified; and made clear; and His saying, the Most High, ﴿for a people who remember﴾; means for the believers who prepare themselves for reflection; and they follow the path of guidance; and the pronoun in His saying, the Most High, "for them"; refers back to the people who remember; and "peace"; has two meanings: one of them is that "peace"; is one of the names of Allah - glorified and exalted is He -; so He attributed the abode to Him, the Most High; and it is His ownership; and His creation; and the second is that it is the source; meaning "safety"; as you say: "peace be upon you"; and as His saying - glorified and exalted is He -: ﴿Their greeting therein is peace﴾ [Ibrahim: 23]; meaning: in the Hereafter; after the gathering; and "He is their protector"; means: the protector of the favors upon them; and ﴿because of what they used to do﴾; means: because of what they used to present of good; and what they do of obedience and righteousness.
