His saying, glorified and exalted is He: "And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous." "And We blessed him and Isaac, and among their descendants are the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself." "And We certainly bestowed favor upon Moses and Aaron." "And We saved them and their people from the great distress." "And We aided them, so they were the victors." "And We gave them the clear scripture."

Whoever said that the sacrificial one is Ishmael made this good tidings about the birth of Isaac, and it is the repeated good tidings in other than this surah. Whoever made the sacrificial one Isaac made this good tidings only for the prophethood itself.

And the favor upon Moses and Aaron is in prophethood and all that occurred with it from its status with Allah. And "the great distress" is the oppression of the Egyptians against them, then the army of Pharaoh when the Children of Israel said: "Indeed, we are to be overtaken," then the sea after that. And the pronoun in "We aided them" refers back to the group previously mentioned, which is Moses, Aaron, and their people. And some said: He meant Moses and Aaron, blessings and peace be upon them, but he expressed their pronoun in the plural for the sake of grandeur. And this is what the Arabs do; they use a collective term for those whom they honor. And "the clear scripture" is the Torah.
