His saying, exalted and majestic is He: "And the Day the Hour will be established, that Day they will be separated." "As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, they will be in a garden, delighted." "And as for those who disbelieved and denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter, those are in the punishment, present." "So glorified is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning." "And to Him belongs all praise in the heavens and the earth, and at nightfall and when you are at noon."

"They will be separated" means: in their abodes, rulings, and rewards. Qatadah said: A separation, by Allah, there will be no gathering after it. And "they will be delighted" means: they will be made comfortable, as Mujahid said. Al-Habrah and al-Hubur: joy and delight. And Yahya ibn Abi Kathir said: "they will be delighted" means: they will hear songs, and this is a type of delight. Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "they will be delighted": they will be honored. And in the saying: "Their houses are filled with delight, and they look at the lesson," and from it is the verse of Abu Dhuhayyib:

"Separation like the grinding of teeth, so be patient, indeed, for every people is a lesson and delight."

This is according to this narration, and it is narrated: "a stumble and a healing," and it is more common.

And Allah mentioned the garden because it is one of the best known places on earth, where green vegetation is abundant. What is on elevated land is better. And from it is the saying of Al-A'sha:

"And what is a garden from the gardens of sadness, overgrown with grass, green, blessed by a pouring rain."

And from it is the saying of Kuthayyir:

"So what is a garden in sadness, good is its soil, the dew is abundant and its fragrance."

Al-Asma'i said: A garden is not called a garden until there is water to drink from it.

And His saying, exalted and majestic is He: "So glorified is Allah" is an address to the believers, commanding worship and urging prayer at these times, as if He is saying: This separation has led to types of blessings and punishment, so the believer strives in the path of winning Allah's mercy. Ibn Abbas, Qatadah, and some of the jurists said: In this verse is a reminder of the four prayers: Maghrib, Fajr, Asr, and Dhuhr. They said that the last prayer is mentioned in another verse, in "near the night" and in mentioning the times of privacy. Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, also said, along with a group of jurists: In this verse is a reminder of the five prayers; because His saying, exalted and majestic is He: "when you reach the evening" includes the two prayers. And His saying, exalted and majestic is He: "And to Him belongs all praise in the heavens and the earth" is an interruption between the two statements of a type of glorification of Allah, exalted and majestic is He, and urging His worship. And Ikrimah read: "when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning," and the meaning is: when you reach the evening in it "and when you reach the morning in it."
