His saying, exalted and majestic is He:

"He who made for you the earth a cradle and made for you therein paths and sent down from the heaven water, so We brought forth thereby pairs of various plants." "Eat and graze your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of reason." "From it We created you, and in it We will return you, and from it We will bring you out once again." "And We certainly showed him Our signs, but he denied and refused."

Look at these things that Musa, peace be upon him, mentioned. They are from what the beginning of intellects necessitates that Fir'aun and every human is far from them. For if he had said: He is the Provider, the Able, the Willing, the All-Knowing, and similar expressions, Fir'aun could have contradicted and said: I do all of this. Rather, Musa, peace be upon him, came to him with attributes that Fir'aun cannot claim as his own.

Ibn Kathir, Nafi, Abu Amr, and Ibn Abbas read: "mihadā" with a kasra on the meem and an alif. "Al-mihād" is the plural of "mahd," and it is said to be a singular noun like "farsh" and "firash." And Asim, Hamzah, and Al-Kisai read: "mahdan" with a fatha on the meem and a sukoon on the haa. His saying: "made" means: He guided and led, and "the paths" are the ways. His saying: "so We brought forth thereby" may be understood as the words of Musa, peace be upon him, in the sense that Allah, exalted and majestic is He, says: "So We brought forth." It may also be that the words of Musa were completed at his saying: "And He sent down from the heaven water," then Allah, the Exalted, connected the words of Musa with His informing Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him. The intended meaning is the overall creation with these mentioned verses. And "the pairs" means: the types, and His saying: "various" is an adjective for the pairs, meaning: different.

And His saying, exalted is He: "Eat and graze your livestock" means it is permissible to eat from it and the sheep graze in it. So He expressed the statement in the form of a command because He inspired actions and made them calm for the souls. And "the reason" is the plural of "nuhya," and "nuhya" is the intellect that prevents from evils.

His saying, exalted is He: "From it We created you" means: from the earth. This is in the sense that He created Adam, peace be upon him, from dust. And His saying: "And in it We will return you" means: by death and burial or destruction, however it may be. And His saying: "And from it We will bring you out" means: by resurrection on the Day of Judgment.

And His saying, exalted is He: "And We certainly showed him Our signs" is an informing from Allah, exalted is He, to Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, about Fir'aun. This supports that the speech from His saying, exalted is He: "So We brought forth thereby" is indeed addressed to Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him. And His saying: "all of them" refers back to the signs that he saw, not that he saw every sign of Allah. Rather, the meaning is that Allah showed him certain signs, which are the staff, the hand, and the plague, and other than that. His seeing these signs was comprehensive; he saw them all complete, as if he said: "Indeed, We showed him Our signs in their entirety," and He attributed the signs to the pronoun of greatness as a means of honoring them. And His saying, exalted is He: "and he refused" implies Fir'aun's earning, and this is what is related to reward and punishment.
