'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' His saying, exalted and glorious is He: ﴿He said, 'My Lord, I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I shall be among the losers.'﴾ ﴿It was said, 'O Noah, descend with peace from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations of those with you. And nations We will grant enjoyment, then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment.'﴾ ﴿That is from the news of the unseen, which We reveal to you. You did not know it, nor did your people, before this. So be patient. Indeed, the outcome is for the righteous.'﴾ This verse contains the repentance of Noah and his submission to the command of Allah, the Exalted, and his seeking forgiveness through the question that was prohibited and the seeking refuge and forgiveness from it. This is the question of determination that comes with an argument and a pressing request regarding what has been concealed of wisdom in it. As for the question regarding matters for the purpose of learning and guidance, it is not included in this. The apparent meaning of His saying: ﴿So do not ask Me that of which you have no knowledge.﴾ [Hud: 46] encompasses both types of questioning.
