'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful' The Exalted said: "And whatever you are in, and whatever you recite of the Qur'an, and whatever you do of deeds, We are witnesses over it when you engage in it. And nothing is hidden from your Lord, not an atom's weight in the earth or in the heaven, nor smaller than that or greater, except in a clear Book." "Indeed, the allies of Allah, there is no fear upon them, nor do they grieve." "Those who have believed and were conscious of Allah." The purpose of the verse is to describe Allah's encompassing knowledge of all things. The meaning of the words: And whatever you are, O Muhammad - and the intended meaning includes him and others - in a matter of all matters, "And whatever you recite of it" the pronoun refers back to "matter," meaning in it and because of it from the Qur'an. It is possible that the pronoun refers to all of the Qur'an. Then He generalized with His saying: "And whatever you do of deeds." And in His saying: "We are witnesses over it" there is a warning and an alert. And "you engage in it" means you take and strive diligently. It is said: The man engaged in his journey and in his speech, and from it is the engagement in Hajj, and the one who engages in drawing lots. It is possible that "engaged" is used with the hamzah. And "hidden" means: it is absent until it becomes concealed, until they said for the distant: absent. And from it is the saying of the poet: The absentees have not heard the lamentation of the gathering, nor have they seen a fire that is around a cursed place. And the one who is absent from his family is called absent, until they referred to him as one who has no wife. In the biographies, it is said that the house of Sa'd ibn Khaythamah was called the house of the bachelors. The majority of the seven reciters and the people read: "hidden" with a dammah on the zay, and only Al-Kisai among them read: "hidden" with a kasrah, which is the reading of Ibn Wathab, Al-Amash, and Talhah ibn Musarif. Abu Hatim said: The readings with the dammah and the kasrah are both valid. And the atom's weight is a weight, and it is a noun, not an adjective, like a perfume and a bat. And the ant is the small ones, which Allah made an example of, as there is nothing smaller than it known in the feeding, reproducing animals of the famous type and place. And the majority of the people and most of the seven reciters read: "nor smaller" and "nor greater" with a fatha on the ra, as a conjunction to "atom" in a state of genitive, but the prohibition of its appearance is due to the prohibition of inflection. And Hamzah alone read: "nor smaller" and "nor greater" as a conjunction to the position of His saying: "atom's weight," because the estimation is: And nothing is hidden from your Lord, an atom's weight. And the clear Book is the preserved tablet, as some of the interpreters said. It is possible that He means the recording angels, and the intent is to mention the deeds mentioned before, and the mention of the smaller in the arrangement occurred according to their saying: the two moons and the two Umars. And from it is His saying, the Exalted: "He does not leave behind a small or a great thing" [Al-Kahf: 49]. And the intent of all of this is to alert the lesser, and that the intended ruling, if it applies to the lesser, is more likely to apply to the greater.
'And 'Ala' is an opening and a reminder. The allies of Allah are the believers who are loyal to Him through obedience and worship. The apparent meaning of this verse is that whoever believes and fears [Allah] is included among the allies of Allah. This is what the Shari'ah requires regarding the ally. We have pointed out this reminder as a caution against some of the descriptive ones and some of the heretics regarding the ally. It has been narrated 'from the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, that he was asked: about the allies of Allah? He said: 'Those whom when you see them, you remember Allah.'
