Commentary
﴿A Messenger﴾ meaning very great. His greatness is increased by his saying, describing [him]: ﴿From Allah﴾ [meaning] the One who has glory and honor. ﴿He recites﴾ meaning he reads a recitation that is transmitted. That Messenger after teaching us ﴿Scrolls﴾ the plural of a sheet, which is the parchment, and what is meant by it, he expressed it due to the intensity of the connection. ﴿Purified﴾ meaning it is in the utmost purity, cleanliness, and freedom from all filth, by what We have made for it of distance from impurities, that falsehood from polytheism with idols and others, from every deviation does not approach it from before it nor from behind it, and that none touches it except the purified. His reading, even if he is unlettered, is like what is in it, a reading for it.
