Biography

Burhān ad-Dīn Ibrāhīm al-Biqāʿī (1406-1480 CE) was a Shafi'i scholar of Syrian-Lebanese origin known for his unique contribution to Quranic sciences. His masterwork, 'Naẓm al-Durar fī Tanāsub al-Āyāt wa al-Suwar' (The Arrangement of Pearls in the Correspondence of Verses and Surahs), is the most comprehensive classical work dedicated to exploring the coherence and interconnection between Quranic verses and surahs.

Tafsir Methodology

Al-Biqa'i's distinctive approach focuses on 'munasabat' — the thematic and structural connections between verses and surahs. He demonstrates how each verse relates to what precedes and follows it, and how surahs connect to one another in a unified structure. His analysis reveals the Quran's internal coherence and the wisdom behind the arrangement of its verses.
