Commentary
And when he knew from this that the provisions are according to the severe supplications for what is upon the extended gratitude, and when he knew for the grateful one of the promise of more, he said, causing what he has given him of ease after that hardship, urging him to gratitude and informing him that he will not cease from bearing a matter for Allah: ﴿So when you have finished﴾ meaning with what He has given you of ease, ease from your striving in which you are at the time of addressing this speech, which necessitates hardship in the outcome or state, and after it is hardship in [any] place it may be, especially at the time of people entering the religion in crowds, or from the heavy and great worship by hearing the revelation and bearing it, or from the intent with the facilitation which We have given you the glad tidings of, ﴿Then strive﴾ meaning exert yourself in the worship of another kind of glorification and seeking forgiveness, or the supererogatory prayer for the one who has bestowed upon you this favor.
