And when He mentioned him with what He has bestowed upon him from these three [blessings], He advised him regarding what he should do in three corresponding to them. He said, causing it to be understood and giving priority to what follows the conjunction for emphasis: "As for the orphan, do not oppress him." This means do not dominate him over anything, for I have made you taste orphanhood as a means of discipline with the best of manners, so that you may recognize the weakness and humiliation of the orphan. Above that, there is his guardianship, which is a representation of Allah, for the orphan has no guardian except Allah. For this reason, the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "I and the one who takes care of the orphan are like these two," and he pointed with his index and middle fingers.
