Commentary
And when He, glorified and exalted is He, mentioned the world and the Hereafter, He mentioned what encompasses both of them from what He has increased them with of His grace. He said, beginning with a letter of initiation to emphasize the words because they deny it, and it is not for swearing, for when it enters upon the present tense, the confirming noon becomes obligatory. He combined this lam with the word of relief to indicate that the giving, even if its time is delayed for the wisdom of an inevitable occurrence: ﴿And surely, He will give you﴾ meaning by a promise that there is no falsehood in it, even if its time is delayed by what the tool ﴿Your Lord﴾ has made understood, meaning the One who has always done good to you with the promise of the world and the promise of the Hereafter ﴿So that you may be pleased﴾ meaning that it will follow from that and result in your pleasure. And this includes what He has granted him after the perfection of the soul from the perfection of knowledge, the manifestation of the matter, the exaltation of the religion, the opening of the lands, the subjugation of the servants, the diminishing of the dominions of the tyrants, the plundering of the treasures of the kings and emperors, and the making lawful of the spoils until he would give like one who does not fear poverty. And it includes what He, glorified and exalted is He, has stored for him in the Hereafter from the praiseworthy station, the sought-after basin, the great intercession, and other than that from what does not fall under limits. And the expression has made it understood that the people are four categories: a giver who is pleased, a prohibited one who is not pleased, a giver who is not pleased, and a prohibited one who is pleased. And from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, that it is the most hopeful verse in the Qur'an because he, blessings and peace be upon him, does not wish for any one of his nation to be in the Fire.
