Commentary
And when he mentioned his state in this world by saying that he continues to be connected with revelation and honor, and among that which is opened to his nation after him, it was narrated from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, blessings and peace be upon him, say: "Have you seen what is opened to my nation after me? It is disbelief, disbelief, and that pleased me." So when that was the case, and his mention was in a manner that encompassed both abodes, he specified the Hereafter, which is higher and more exalted. For the least of those who enter it is that which no eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor has it crossed the heart of a human being. So how about what is for him, blessings and peace be upon him? He then affirmed that as he had affirmed the first by swearing by what they have of denial: "And certainly the Hereafter" meaning that it is the intended goal of existence in itself, as it is everlasting, pure from the impurities of distress or the later state for you to understand from it that he is still in a progression from higher to higher and complete to more complete, always and forever, not to an end. "Good" and he qualified by saying: "for you" because not everyone is like that. "From the first" meaning the transient world in which there is no pure joy, just as the day which follows the night is better than it and more noble, especially the forenoon of it. And he has made it clear that people are in four categories: Among them are those who have good in both abodes, and they are the people of obedience, the wealthy. And among them are those who have evil in both, and they are the disbelieving poor. And among them are those who have a form of good in this world and evil in the Hereafter, and they are the disbelieving wealthy. And among them are those who have a form of evil in this world and good in the Hereafter, and they are the believing poor. It has been said:
People in this world are in four categories, And the soul in their thoughts is confused.
One has a constricted world, Indeed, he has an Hereafter after it.
And one has an expanded world, He has no Hereafter after it.
And one has attained both of them, He is happy in this world and in the Hereafter.
And one falls between them, That one has neither this world nor the Hereafter.
