Commentary
(p-100) The purpose of Surah Ad-Duha is to indicate the end of the night by showing that the most pious of the pious, who is the most pious absolutely, is always in the eye of pleasure, never departing from it in this world and the Hereafter. This is due to the attributes of perfection that he possesses, which are the means to reach the intended goal, with what they have of spiritual light like the morning light, which has the physical light that is the noblest of what is in the day. It is known by this that its name is the clearest indication of its purpose: 'In the name of Allah,' the One who honors whom He wills, the Generous, the Kind, the Majestic and the Generous, 'the Most Gracious,' who encompasses the creation with His special and general blessings, and 'the Most Merciful,' who elevates the people of His affection and specifically bestows upon them the completion of His favors.
* * And when He decreed at the end of the night the happiness of the pious, and the Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) was the most pious of creation absolutely, and revelation had been cut off from him for a while as a test for whom He willed from His servants, and with him (blessings and peace be upon him) was the righteousness of religion, this world, and the Hereafter. The two angels were the cause of the righteousness of the moral life and many of their destinies. He swore, glorified and exalted is He, by both of them that he is the happiest of creatures in this world (p-101) and the Hereafter. So He said, presenting what is appropriate to the state of the most pious, which Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) intended as a primary goal of the light that fills the regions and removes all darkness that returns to it and reaches it, indicating by what He mentioned of the time of the bright light the state of the beginning of the day and the end of the night, which is the darkness wrapped around the leg of the day at dawn: ﴿And the morning light﴾. He mentioned what is the noblest of the day and the gentlest of it, which is its flower, and its brightness, which is its beginning. That is the time of the sun's elevation because the One who swears for its sake is the noblest of creation, and that indicates that he reaches a level of honor that no one among creation can attain.
