Commentary
And when a thing does not mean anything except if it is unknown, even from some aspects, he denied this assumption regarding its occurrence. For it does not lead to what he thought except by it, by his saying indicating his fourth carnal desire, which is that his matters be concealed so that no one appears upon his deviation at all: ﴿Does he think﴾ that this stubborn man, due to his lack of understanding, ﴿that no one has seen him﴾ either by sight or by insight in the past time ﴿anyone﴾ (p-55) meaning in this action of his, in his secret and in his public and in all his affairs, so he diminishes all that he has done if he wishes, and [everything] that he has missed of the effects of these four desires, and he is still missing it. It was from the desire to attain it in hardship and struggle and toil, whereby he throws himself to attain it in peril, and he will never obtain from it what pleases him at all. This is a metaphor for that he commits from the evils the actions of one who thinks that he will not be exposed. Therefore, Allah, glorified and exalted is He, alerted him with various types of warnings to take heed and safeguard his life.
