And when he began the story by praising the pious for their eagerness to engage in jihad without seeking permission, he concluded it with that and mentioned what has been prepared for them. He said, informing them of being independent of them, by whom is the pure good, reproaching them and reprimanding them: "But the Messenger" meaning: and the One who sent him to turn the servants away from corruption to righteousness, "and those who believed" meaning: with a great faith, being or being with him, "with him" meaning: accompanying him in essence and state in all that We sent him with to them, "struggled with their wealth and their selves" meaning: they gave both of these in love for him, so they fulfilled the condition of faith. And "but" is an occurrence placed between competitors, for all that has passed of their condition is indicative that they did not engage in jihad.

And when the context was about their stinginess with their souls and wealth, and for depriving benefit from their wealth and children, he limited his praise of his allies to the struggle with their souls and wealth and did not mention the way. And he said: "Those" indicating that it is connected to what you can estimate: so those are the ones whose hearts I have illuminated, so they understand. And his saying: "for them" meaning: not for others, "are the good things" is an allusion to those of wealth among the hypocrites, for good is applied to wealth, and its adornment with "the" is for its comprehensiveness of all the benefits of the two abodes. And the expression with the tool of distance indicates the high status of his allies and the remoteness of attaining it except by a favor from Him, glorified and exalted is He. Likewise, the allusion to them in his saying: "And those are" meaning: specifically, "the successful" meaning: those who attain all their desires, not others.
