Commentary

And the saying 'and the even' means for one who hastens in two days. And 'and the odd' means for one who completes it. This was said by Ibn al-Zubayr. Ahmad and al-Bazzar narrated with authentic chains from Ayyash ibn 'Uqbah, who is trustworthy, from Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, that he said: 'The ten of Dhul-Hijjah, and the even is the day of Eid al-Adha, and the odd is the day of Arafah.'
