And when it has become customary that the one who is punished is secured by imprisonment or otherwise, and is prevented from everything that could lead him to take his own life, out of fear that he may escape or perish, he said: "And no one will secure him" meaning that there does not exist "his securing" [i.e.] like his securing. So how could anyone secure him? The meaning is that it does not occur in anyone's imagination due to the severance of lineages and causes that anyone can have [like] what he can have, glorified and exalted is He, of harm to fear, as occurs in this world. Rather, in this world, there are many illusions that the punishment of those whom they fear is greater than the punishment of Allah - and that the punishment of this world in its entirety, if it were to gather upon a single person, would not equal the sight of Hellfire in that position in that terrifying gathering, without entering it. And for this reason, his fear precedes the fear of Allah. Al-Kisai and Ya'qub built the two verbs for the passive form, and the meaning (p-42) according to the reading of the group by building it for the subject: No one punishes like the punishment of Allah, meaning that no one other than Allah punishes anyone from the creation like the punishment of Allah [for him]. The result is that he does not fear on the Day of Resurrection from anyone other than Allah, for it has been established by this saying that His punishment has no equal. And he did not mention who is punished, so the matter returns to [the meaning]: On that Day, man will fear Allah with a fear that has no equal, meaning he does not fear from anyone like his fear of Him, glorified and exalted is He. And it is permissible that the pronoun in "His punishment" refers to man, meaning that no one from the guardians punishes anyone other than man like his punishment. And in the passive form: No one punishes the punishment of man [but] it is necessary for him that the punishment of man is greater than the punishment of Iblis. And it is permissible that the meaning is: No one bears what he deserves of punishment like His saying, glorified and exalted is He: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another" [Fatir: 18].
