And when the context indicates that the estimation is: they think that this will preserve their wealth and improve their conditions and is suitable for their concerns, He forbade it with all forms of prohibition, saying: ﴿No﴾ meaning that this is not how the matter should be. Then He began to mention what would cause their regret and awaken them from their slumber and inform them that love of wealth does not necessitate its increase. If it did necessitate its increase, it would necessitate happiness. He said: ﴿When the earth is shaken﴾ meaning that it will be shaken and trembled and quaked to be leveled so that it becomes like a stretched skin with the intensity of the rain, with no crookedness in it whatsoever. He indicated by the building to the ease of that because the matter is great due to the greatness of the true doer. For this reason, He said: ﴿A shaking, a shaking﴾ meaning repeatedly distributed to every place in it, so that there will be a shaking specific to every mountain, hill, pass, and obstacle, emphasizing that it is an extreme shaking, so that its mountains and hills become scattered dust. Then it will be leveled until there is nothing crooked in it, and it is a metaphor for great earthquakes that the towering mountains cannot bear, and they will be stopped by others.
