And when the relation of this to him is a reprimand and a scolding for the shortness of his vision, then indeed, being frugal may lead to happiness in both worlds, and being generous may lead to their misery. This is mostly found. He said, as a deterrent against such a statement with the greatest tools of rebuke, justifying the expansion and the frugality: ﴿No﴾ [meaning] I do not honor by increasing the worldly matters nor do I dishonor by decreasing them. Neither is the expansion confined to honor nor is the restriction confined to dishonor and humiliation. Rather, humiliation comes to them from the fact that they do not obey Allah. And perhaps it is through expansion, and perhaps it is through frugality. For perhaps he disobeys and Allah expands upon him as a humiliation for him. And this is for whoever He, glorified and exalted is He, intends with him misery, so He hastens for him his pleasures in this world as a trap. And perhaps he disobeys and Allah restricts him as an honor for him because that expiates for him. And in the authentic narration regarding the leper, the bald, and the blind among the Children of Israel, there is a great witness to that.

And when he deterred from believing that the expansion is for the honorable and the restriction is for the dishonorable, he mentioned that the criterion of whom He created upon the love of obedience and whom He created upon the love of disobedience is the disdain for this world and the love of it. He said [clarifying] the words of man in both aspects (p-35) and he specified first because it is more explicit regarding the generalization and he gathered second to inform that what is meant is the type. ﴿Rather﴾ meaning they belittle the command of Allah by what they have of disobedience. So He expands upon some of those created for misery as a humiliation for him through entrapment, and He restricts [some] who were not created for that as an honor for him and a deterrent from following desires and a return to doing good to the weak. And he translated this disobedience, which is the cause of abandonment, by saying: ﴿You do not honor﴾ meaning most people ﴿the orphan﴾ by giving and similar acts out of compassion for him and mercy for him because he is weak and no benefit is expected from him in terms of praise or otherwise.
