Commentary

And when what has occurred of this does not purify, and in it is what is disliked of the words, He said, glorifying it from all evil: ﴿They do not hear﴾ meaning, O one who enters it - according to the reading of the majority. Ibn Kathir, Abu Amr, and Ruways read from Ya'qub with the passive form, which is more eloquent in negation. ﴿In it is no idle talk﴾ meaning, there is no idle talk or a soul that engages in idle talk, or a word that is idle in the figurative sense. Rather, what is heard in it is the remembrance of praise, glorification, and exaltation, to carry what one sees in it of wonders upon that, along with the removal of the inclinations that lead to other than it from the hearts due to what they disliked of the idle talk of the people of this world that contradicts wisdom.
