Commentary
And when he completed it ﷺ and prepared it, glorified and exalted is He, for the easier, and made it as easy as possible, He caused the obligation of reminding everyone in every situation, completing it for others out of compassion for the creation of Allah. After he had [for himself - ] in his own self, for indeed Allah has hours in which there are breezes in which needs are fulfilled. This is because he has become like the skilled physician in treating the sick, and he acts for the benefit of His servants in gratitude to Him [after - ] remembering Him with His permission, indicating that the student needs the permission of the scholars and their endorsement. And that the greatest of ailments is for a person to limit himself to what he has and not seek to increase from what he does not have of good provisions. So Allah, the Most High, said: ﴿So remind﴾, meaning with this wise reminder. And He expressed it with a tool of doubt to convey the understanding of the complete generality, so He said: ﴿If the reminder benefits﴾, meaning if you allow its benefit and hope for it [even if - ] it is in a weak manner - by what is indicated by the feminine form of the verb after what was conveyed by the tool of doubt. And there is no doubt that a person, due to his lack of knowledge of the unseen, does not cut off the lack of benefit for anyone, but he continues to have hope from Him even if he distances himself. For this reason, the Prophet ﷺ continued to call to Allah, the Most High, even when the matter became severe, and he did not belittle anyone to call upon Him nor despair of anyone even if it became difficult for him. And the command to turn away from those who turned away and similar to that [is only to turn away from the sadness for him and from the cutting off of the soul for his sake, regrets and similar to that. - ]
