Commentary
And when he mentioned the divine matters and prophethood, and referred to the abrogations, he indicated that the prescribed religion for it is the lenient Hanifiyyah. And that He, glorified and exalted is He, does not establish it in anything by abrogation or otherwise except that it is the easiest and most accommodating. This is because gentleness and harshness change according to time. He said, clarifying the effect of his explanation on the practical aspect in relation to the theoretical: "And We will make it easy for you," meaning We will make you prepared, facilitated, and successful for ease, meaning in preserving the revelation and reflecting upon it, and other than that from all the paths and states that are gentle, easy, and light. As indicated by his saying: "Everything is made easy for what it was created for." And for this reason, he did not say: "And We will make it easy for you," because he is naturally inclined towards loving it.
