Commentary
And when what is the case here is that it perishes according to what is customary in the fastest time, if it is of its nature, with this greatness, that it does not perish, then that is clear evidence that none knows the essence of the greatness of its Creator except Him, glorified and exalted is He. He indicated this by expressing it with a tool of delay, informing that the ranks of this severity in the oscillation between death and life, none knows its elevation above the intensity of the fire except Allah, the Exalted. He said: ﴿Then he does not die in it﴾ meaning he does not experience a renewal of death in this fire, even if the duration is long.
And since the one who enters the fire, death does not affect him, that may be an honor for him as a breaking of the norms, he guarded against it by saying: ﴿And he does not live﴾ meaning a life that benefits him, for he did not purify himself, so he neither believed nor prayed.
