And when the decree was: because it is necessary for him to be presented to the Creator, glorified and exalted is He, because the delegation of the human being can only be for his presentation to the Sovereign, the Judge, the Owner of command and proof, and his accountability for what he has done, the decree was: he preserves their deeds and writes them down so that the King may hold him accountable for that. Thus, it resulted in His saying, exalted is He: 'So let man look' meaning with insight. 'The human being' refers to the one who is aware of himself, looking into his actions to see if he is proceeding in that. 'From what' meaning from what thing? And it is established for the doer that the command is to look, which is His saying: 'He was created' indicating that the indicator is the absolute creation. And it serves as a reminder of the greatness of the doer, as knowledge of Him does not require mentioning Him by name, for no one can create anything of His creations except Him. And He commanded the human being to look in this way so that he may know about the matter of his origin and the matter of his return. For whoever is capable of beginning is certainly capable of returning. So if this is established for him, he should strive to not write down for his guardians except what pleases Allah, the Most High, on the day of his presentation to the Sovereign, the Judge, to ease his time of accountability.
