Commentary
And when the gathering is for the purpose of presentation, and the presentation must have witnesses and those being witnessed against, along with a dispute regarding covenants, he said, denying the ambiguity for the sake of glorification and generalization, like the saying: 'A soul will [then] know what it has brought' [Al-Takwir: 14]. 'And a witness' means a noble one from the saints. 'And one being witnessed against' means in itself from the visible realities and tremendous effects, or upon it, for it is a day that all creatures will witness, and in it will be extraordinary matters that description cannot encompass. The prophets, who are witnesses, will be present along with their nations, who are the ones being witnessed against. There will not remain a small deed nor a large one except that it will be accounted for, and in that is the severest warning for all servants.
