Commentary
And when it was known from the context that what was meant by their saying was what happened to them from the punishment for denying the messengers, especially in the resurrection for which the context is, and the reality of its explanation by the verses of Moses and Salih, blessings and peace be upon them, is clearer than what occurred by the verses of others whose time preceded these times. The community of every prophet from the prophets and the followers of Pharaoh contained many kinds of creation. It has been reported that his vanguard on the day he pursued the Children of Israel and drowned was six hundred thousand. He replaced 'the soldiers' to indicate that they were enemies of Allah, as in His saying: 'Pharaoh.' Likewise, his followers were the most severe among the people of his time, the most oppressive, and the most numerous in their foolishness in claiming divinity and in their belief in him. This was due to the blindness of their hearts, despite the manifestation of the signs of divine lordship, both heavenly and earthly, and their firm stance in denial, foolishness, lightheadedness, and recklessness, despite witnessing those great signs in their abundance and over a long period of time, until they entered the sea safely from drowning, even though the danger of drowning in that situation was not hidden from anyone who had the slightest grasp of reason. So Allah drowned him and all those with him, leaving not a single one of them. So may the curse of Allah be upon him and upon those who were with him from his followers and their followers, the Arab Unionist group, who are sufficient in their display of disbelief by their support of Pharaoh, who all the sects agreed upon his disbelief. And Thamud, who were driven by foolishness to slaughter the she-camel after they saw it emerging from the solid rock, not permitting that the one who broke the norm by bringing it forth would destroy them in its matter. And He, glorified is He, combined between the Arabs and the non-Arabs and the destruction by water, which is the life of everything, and the cry, which is a sign of the Hour. And indeed, their signs were clearer because the sign of Thamud was a she-camel that emerged from a solid rock, and among the signs of Moses, blessings and peace be upon him, was the creation of lice, which cannot be counted in number from the hills, and the creation of frogs likewise, and the revival of the staff once again. There is no doubt for a rational person that the one who was able to do that, beginning from something that has no origin in life, is certainly more capable of restoring what was previously alive.
