And when the evidence was established that His might is severe, he confirmed it with what he found of that and reminded him of it as a warning and consolation for him. This is because the contemplation of tangible matters is more accessible to the souls. So he said: ﴿Has the story of the soldiers reached you?﴾ meaning, O greatest of our creation, ﴿the story of the soldiers﴾ meaning, remember what has come to you of what happened to them from our might and what occurred to them from our assaults as a denial of our messengers upon them blessings and peace be upon him. This became a story recited and a mention among the creation for its greatness that does not fade. And the soldiers is the plural of jund with a dammah, which is the army prepared for fighting and assistance, and the city. And everyone is looking to the great aid and the increased victory.
