Commentary
And when it was known that the servants of the King, when they were presented [to him], included those who were accepted and those who were rejected, because their toil sometimes is good and sometimes is bad, he said, defining that the [matter] in meeting him is likewise [as we are accustomed to]. So whoever was accepted was given the record of his good deeds in his right hand because he was in this world among the people of the right, meaning the religion that is pleasing. And whoever was rejected was given his record in his left hand because he was in this world with the people of the left, which is the false religion that acts without the permission of the King. It is as if he does so behind Him. This purpose is expressed in His saying, glorified and exalted is He, detailing [for] mankind, intended as a collective term for the individual after He specified it, emphasizing the inclusion of every individual: ﴿So as for he who is given﴾. He built it for the passive, indicating that all matters of the Hereafter are under His control and are extremely easy for Him, glorified and exalted is He. And in this abode, for the matter, even if it is so, the difference lies in the unveiling of the veil of the causes there, so there is no claim for anyone. ﴿His record﴾ means the record of his account that the angels wrote while he does not know and is unaware. ﴿In his right hand﴾ is from before him, and he is the believing obedient.
