And when the intended meaning became clear and only stubbornness remained, this caused their denial against them, reproach, reprimand, and threat. He said, turning away from their address to the unseen, signaling their deservingness of being taken if they do not return: "What is the matter with them?" That is, what is it with these who have received this miraculous book that we have sent down to them, that they do not believe? That is, they do not establish faith and renew it at all times, continuously adhering to all that this book calls them to, which the King of Kings has specified for them. The evidence has become clear and the proofs have been established, especially the signs of the Resurrection. Is it not but one of these transitions to which one moves? For whoever is in one state today and in another tomorrow is worthy of knowing that his management is directed elsewhere. And whoever does not know this has no remedy for his madness. And whoever knows that his management is towards knowledge of the will in the management, not towards himself. And it was said to Abu Bakr the scribe: What is the evidence of the Creator? He said: The transformation of states, the inability of power, the weakness of foundations, the subjugation of will, and the breaking of resolve.
