Commentary
And when the seal is at the time of opening, it must descend from its remnants in the drink, He said: ﴿Its seal is musk﴾. Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: What is meant by its seal is the last taste of it. It is possible that its seal is at the beginning of its opening and at the end of its drinking, which necessitates that only the one who drinks it opens it, and that it is according to the measure of his sufficiency so he drinks it all. The expression is valid for it to be [the seal - ] both at the beginning and at the end, and it runs parallel to the breaking of the virgin.
And when the estimation is: [in it - ] reaching the end of the pleasure of the drinkers, He added to it His saying: ﴿And in that﴾ meaning the matter [the great - ] distant and encompassing, which is the life, the bliss, and the drink that this is its description. ﴿Let those who compete﴾ meaning let them desire with the utmost desire with all effort and choice. ﴿The competitors﴾ meaning those whose nature is competition, which is that each of them seeks to have that competition for himself specifically without others because it is very precious. And the precious is that which the souls of people strive for and value highly. Competition in such a matter is through abundant [good deeds - ] and sincere intentions.
