Commentary
And when the gatherings of companionship, especially in the lush places, are not pleasant except with food and drink, and since drink indicates food, he limited himself to it because these chapters are short, aiming for brevity along with gathering. He said: ﴿They will be given to drink﴾, establishing for it a sign of the action indicating that they are served forever, with no burden upon them in anything. ﴿From pure wine﴾, meaning a drink that is pure, clear, ancient, white, and perfumed to the utmost delight. For they said: Indeed, the pure wine is the best of wine or the purest or the clear one, and a type of perfume. There is no doubt that a sane person does not drink wine at all, so how about the best of it, unless he has completed its prerequisites from food, drink, clothing, marriage, and other than that. And since the seal is only for that which has a great rank and is precious, he said, intending the reality or the metaphor for its preciousness: ﴿Sealed﴾, meaning it is with its preciousness safe from dust and all impurities and filth.
