And when it becomes necessary for its rupture and its shaking and the lack of its holding onto what it has established, this will be a greater fright for those beneath it. They will be anticipating at any moment its falling or the falling of a portion of it upon them, so they will be in a state where they cannot find any stability. [He said]: "And when the stars..." meaning the small and large stars, all of them bright and radiant, are ignited like the fire that is adorned with the setting of nails in the cohesive things that Allah has arranged in the abode of causes with the four seasons and the night and the day, and other great purposes. And they were preserved by the order of the heavens. "They will be scattered," meaning they will fall apart, as pearls fall from a string when it breaks, falling separately as if due to their swiftness, they do not need the action of an agent for the strength of their collapse to fall.
