Commentary
And when it was clarified that He is of such greatness that no understanding can grasp Him, no matter how great or how much effort is exerted, he summarized his matter in explaining what can be comprehended by minds in a general way. He refuted what some who lack understanding might say: If you have joined and sought refuge with some of the great ones and aimed for some of the distinguished, then you have secured dominance or through intercession and the like. He said, substituting from 'the Day of Judgment' in the reading of Ibn Kathir and the Basri scholars with the raising: ﴿The Day﴾, which is an adverbial phrase. Al-Kisai said: The Arabs prefer the raising when they add night and day to the future, and when they add to a past action, they prefer the accusative. ﴿No soul﴾ means no soul (p-309) was exempted, and the others read it in the accusative as an adverbial phrase. It is permissible that the vowel is for the construction due to its addition to something that is not established. ﴿For a soul anything﴾ means little or much. This, although the Day is established, yet in this abode, glorified is He, it is concealed in the causes. It has been established in the souls that the existing beings can harm and benefit because they speak and act. As for there, the established in the souls is contrary to that, in that no one speaks except by His permission, a clear permission, and no one has any action except by His permission as well. Thus, the entire matter is always for Him, but His apparent name there is [apparent - ] and His hidden name here is established for the causes of delusion and secrecy.
And when the estimation is: There is no matter for any of the creation at all, [no - ] apparent or hidden, he added to his saying: ﴿And the matter﴾ means all of it ﴿On that Day﴾ means when the resurrection is for recompense ﴿belongs to Allah﴾ means it is exclusive to Him, with no apparent partner in it, just as there is no hidden partner in it. There, the complete unveiling occurs, so no one claims for anyone a matter without a clear specific permission. Knowledge becomes necessary through that. Therefore, there were great upheavals and earthquakes, and the accounting of all actions, both small and large, has returned to its beginning, and the connection of its details is with its source - and Allah is the guide to the right path.
