Commentary

And when he mentioned what is released and spread, he followed it with what is folded and confined, so that what is above it of wonders may become apparent and be observed. He said: "And when the heaven..." This refers to this entire category. He singled it out because he knows that the ability over some of it is the ability over the rest. "It is peeled away" means it is removed with great force and increased speed, and it is taken away from its place, which is a covering for it and surrounding it, or from the air surrounding its surface, which is like the spirit for it, just as the skin is peeled away from what is covering it and surrounding it with great adhesion. This is because that is the Day of unveiling and manifestation. "So We removed your covering from you" [Q: 22]. Its peeling is like the uncovering of people from the she-camels and their dispersal from them. So whoever believes in its removal has turned away from binding his aspiration to anything of it and has entrusted all his affairs to his Lord.
