Commentary
And when his informing that he is with the one who has made the way easy for him could be understood as meaning that he does not act except by what pleases him, he negated that as a means of deterrence and said: ﴿No﴾, meaning let this person who knows that these are his states, first and last, and during and exit, sometimes from the exit of urine and other times from the exit of menstruation and a grave, be deterred and let him recognize himself with humiliation, disgrace, need, and incapacity. And let him know his Lord, glorified and exalted is He, with honor, greatness, majesty, transience, and the ability to elevate the lowly and belittle the noble. And that He, glorified and exalted is He, is not obligated by anything, so it is not required of this person to know the way and distinguish it for him because he does not do except what he is not blamed for. For he is not from among mankind and others except what he wants. Sometimes he wants his guidance, and sometimes he wants his misguidance. He may command what he does not want and want what he does not command and does not approve of. And for this reason, he said, resuming the negation of what he understood by making the way easy for him, that the human does all that Allah has commanded him, who has made the way easy for him: ﴿When he has decreed﴾, meaning the human does an action that is effective and past ﴿what He has commanded him﴾, meaning by Allah, all of it without any shortcoming from the time of his obligation until the time of his burial, but from the time Adam, blessings and peace be upon him, was created until the time of the descent of this verse and until the end of time. For the human is built upon deficiency, and Allah is exalted in the most complete exaltation. And they did not estimate Allah with the true estimation. And also, the human, who is the species, did not act in entirety such that not a single individual deviated from all that He commanded. Rather, the majority of the species disobeyed Him and denied the Hour, which is the wisdom of existence. And if some of them believed in it, their belief in it would be a denial because he believes things about it contrary to what it is.
