Commentary

And when the majority of the astonishment is directed towards his denial of the Hour, due to the emergence of its proofs in the Qur'an very much, and because the establishment of the proofs for it has been repeated in these surahs, which is beyond what can be added, he began to establish the proof for it with the verse about the souls from the beginning of creation in a clear manner that shows its insignificance and lowliness. And that whoever dresses it in the garments of honor after that insignificance and lowliness is deserving of gratitude from him, not of disbelief. So he said, alerting him with the question: 'From what thing?' And the questioning is for the purpose of affirmation along with belittlement: 'He created him.'
