Commentary
And when the reproach, which is characteristic of beloved ones, was hinting at the prohibition of turning away from the one upon whom the reproach has fallen, and everyone whose state is like his, and the preoccupation with one who desires, he made it clear by saying: ﴿No﴾ meaning do not do that at all. For the matter in decree and destiny is not according to what the servants think, nor is it governed by the causes that you know, but it is beyond their knowledge, based on a judgment that is subtle beyond their thoughts and understandings. Then he explained that by saying, affirming their denial of that, ﴿Indeed, it﴾ meaning the Qur'an, and perhaps he feminized the pronoun considering what was recited to them in that gathering from the verses or the chapters. ﴿A reminder﴾ meaning it reminds them with a great reminder, for if they reflect upon it, they would witness it within themselves and in the horizons. There is nothing in it except that they know it if they fully turn to it. So, there is nothing upon the one reminding it except conveying the message. Whoever turns to it, then welcome and ease. And whoever turns away, then distance and destruction.
