And when leaving the world is difficult for the soul, and leaving the dispute after being involved in it is even more difficult, he began to mention to them what they were averse to, and he did so with them. And he commanded them with it, knowing the consequences, so they praised its effect. This was to be more conducive to their submission to his command and their refraining from his reprimand. He likened their aversion to leaving their desires in the spoils to their aversion to going out with him, then to their aversion to meeting the army without the caravan.
