Commentary
And when he began with the indication of the upper world, because it is more indicative of the wonders and benefits therein, while being more noble, he mentioned that he perfected the heaven which is like the male. Then he reiterated that he made what is like it the female, saying: ﴿and the earth﴾. And when the intention was to encompass time with the continuity of the spreading, he omitted the preposition and said: ﴿after that﴾, meaning all that has been mentioned. ﴿He spread it﴾, meaning he laid it out and extended it for habitation and the remaining benefits after he had created it and brought it into existence before the creation of the heaven, not being leveled by action nor spread out.
