Commentary
So he said, meaning his caller, of whom there is no doubt that it is about him. His saying was like his saying: "I am." And Hamzah al-Karmani said: Musa, peace be upon him, said to him: "Indeed, my Lord has sent me to you. If you believe in your Lord, you will have four hundred years in joy and bliss, then you will die and enter Paradise." He said: "Until I consult Haman." So he consulted him, and he said: "Will you become a servant after you were a Lord to be worshipped?" At that, the enemy of Allah sent for the guards and gathered the sorcerers and soldiers. When they gathered, the enemy of Allah stood on his throne and said: "I am your Lord, the Most High." This was his call, meaning all of you are lords, some of you above others, and I am the highest among you, and there is no Lord above me at all. This is because, with him, divinity is nature, and it is divided among existents. They are all lords, and whoever is higher is more firmly established in the intended meaning. He was higher than them, so may Allah disgrace him and curse him and curse those who follow his way, like Ibn Arabi and Ibn al-Farid and their followers, as they denied the chosen, the overpowering King, and His Messenger, the chosen one. They followed, in the unity of existence, some philosophers, and then al-Hallaj after Pharaoh, whom Allah did not explicitly condemn anyone as He explicitly condemned him. And He did not explicitly declare the misery of anyone as He explicitly declared his misery, like this verse: "So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea. So see how was the end of the wrongdoers." And His saying, the Exalted: "And We made them leaders who call to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection, they will not be supported." And "And We followed them in this world with a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection, they are among the despised."
To other than that of the clear signs and evident proofs which cannot be counted, and they are many. The greatest of them is the obvious reasoning: "And indeed, Pharaoh was high in the land, and he was indeed of the transgressors" [Yunus: 83]. "And indeed, the transgressors are the companions of the Fire" [Ghafir: 43]. It is narrated that when Iblis heard this saying from him, he said: "I have rebelled against Adam and faced what I faced, and this one says this? And this was called to it by the pride arising from the trial of ease, in which patience is greater than patience in hardship." Imam Al-Ghazali said in the Book of Patience from Al-Ihya: "Patience in obedience is difficult because the soul by its nature recoils from servitude and desires lordship." Therefore, some of the knowledgeable said: "There is no soul except that it harbors what Pharaoh manifested in his saying: 'I am your Most High Lord.' But Pharaoh found an opportunity and acceptance, so he manifested it when he was obeyed. And there is no one except that he claims this along with his servant and his follower and all who are under his control and obedience, even if he refrains from manifesting it. For his annoyance and anger at their shortcomings in serving him can only arise from harboring pride and contesting lordship in the garment of arrogance." - Ended. (p-235) And it is supported by the fact that the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, never blamed his servant for anything at all - and Allah, the Most High, is the One who grants success to what is right.
