Commentary
And the mountains, meaning you recognize their strength and greatness and your inability to do even the least of their matters. Or pegs that stabilize them, just as a house is not stabilized except by its pegs. Al-Afwah Al-Awdi said: "And the house is not built except with pillars, and there are no pillars if its pegs are not set." This is so that it does not sway with you, for it is suspended in the expanse of knowledge, held by the hand of power. If it were not for the mountains, due to their great weight, they would be like a high ship floating on the surface of the sea, and it is in a state of great movement, especially when the wind becomes strong. At that time, no one standing can remain stable, nor can anyone sitting, nor anyone sleeping. The mountains are like heavy luggage that you lower into the water, so it is protected from excessive rolling. How can it be correct in any way to stop in informing someone whose power is like this, especially if that informer is one whom glorified and exalted is He has established His command in the original nature and confirmed its correctness in the minds with the clearest and most evident confirmation.
