Commentary
And when He mentioned His punishment and directed His agreement to their recompense, He caused from their denial what is said to them by the tongue of the state or the saying, as an insult and an increase in the recompense, by way of the turning that indicates the severity of disgrace and anger upon them and the completeness of His ability, glorified and exalted is He. He said: And it is permissible that it be a cause from a measure after 'a record' such as: to recompense them for everything from it, saying to them by the tongue of the angels or the tongue of the state: 'So taste' meaning from this punishment in this state because of your denial of the reckoning. And He emphasized their tasting in the receiving by saying: 'So We will not increase you' meaning anything from the things [at any time of the times] 'except punishment.' For indeed, your abode has nothing in it except the Hellfire, just as Paradise has nothing in it except bliss. He made this clear that the attainment of anything for them other than punishment is impossible.
