And when He judged them with this punishment [which cannot be endured], He mentioned His wisdom - He said, "Indeed, He recompensed them with that ﴿a recompense in accordance﴾, meaning a recompense that corresponds to their deeds. This is because they used to take the wealth of the people, burning their chests over it, cooling it with drink, describing it, and perfuming it. So they are now being burned with the foul juice of others. And it is as if after ages - if they are made to end - they will exchange a punishment other than the boiling water and the foul.
