Commentary
And when he mentioned it, he mentioned what is in it as a glorification of it and an encouragement to obedience. He said, changing from it or clarifying it: ﴿On the Day﴾. And when the terrifying and frightening blowing occurs, not because it is from a specific source, he built for the action his saying ﴿It will be blown﴾, meaning from a blower whom Allah has permitted ﴿in the Horn﴾, which is a horn of light, as it is said, its size is greater than the distance between the heavens and the earth. It is the blowing of resurrection, and it is the second of the blowings. The earth, as mentioned in the end of Surah Az-Zumar, and for that reason he said: ﴿Then you will come﴾, meaning after rising from the graves to the standing place, alive as you were the first time, not losing any of your limbs, skins, hairs, nails, or your original colors. Something will gather you from the earth after you have been torn apart in it, and the soil of those who perished among you mixed with its soil, and the soil of some of you with others. The distinguishing of that, its gathering, and its reassembling will be as it was, and the returning of the soul into it is easy for Him, glorified and exalted is He, as He did all of that from a drop after He did it in Adam, peace be upon him, from soil that has no origin in life. While you are ﴿in groups﴾, meaning nations and groups and gatherings walking quickly, each nation with its leader. Al-Thalabi and Ibn Marduyah narrated from Al-Bara, may Allah be pleased with him - and our Sheikh Ibn Hajar said in the biography of Muhammad ibn Zuhair in Lisan al-Mizan: It is apparent in its context - that Mu'adh, may Allah be pleased with him, asked about these groups, and the Prophet, blessings and peace be upon him, said: "Indeed, my nation will be gathered in ten types: in the forms of monkeys, and in the forms of pigs, and some will be turned upside down, dragged on their faces, and some will be blind, and some deaf and dumb, and some will be chewing their tongues, which are hanging on their chests, pus flowing from their mouths, and they will be repulsive to the people of the gathering. And some will have their hands and feet cut off, and some will be crucified on trunks of fire, and some will be more foul-smelling than carrion, and some will be wearing garments [made of thick fabric - ] of tar sticking to their skins. He made them happy with the gluttons and eaters of unlawful things, and the eaters of usury, and the unjust in judgment, and those who are proud of their deeds, and the scholars whose actions contradict their words, and those who harm their neighbors, and those who seek to harm people for the authority, and those who follow their desires, preventing the right of Allah, glorified and exalted is He, and the arrogant ones in pride."
