Commentary
And when he mentioned what indicates the ultimate power and the end of wisdom, it certainly indicates oneness. For if there were multiplicity, wisdom would not exist, nor would power be complete. This resulted in love for the one who possesses that. It produced in the obedient a longing for meeting Him and a desire to witness the perfection of His blessings. And for the disobedient, what is truly appropriate for him is fear of meeting Him, to turn him away from his aversion and refusal. I follow what I know, that he mentioned it only to indicate the great news of meeting the Mighty, the Merciful. He said, producing from what has passed of the warning and what indicates the completeness of power, confirming for the sake of their denial: "Indeed, the Day of Separation" [that is] the great news. The warning of it was previously mentioned in the [Surah] Al-Mursalat, and He created creation only to gather them therein and to manifest the attributes of perfection, to separate therein between every deceiver with a separation that leaves no doubt. Justice will be taken for the oppressed from the oppressor. "It was" [that is] in the knowledge of Allah and His wisdom, a state that must occur, in which it was made like the nature of those with souls. "A fixed time" [that is] a limit by which the world is timed, and it ends at it along with what is in it from the creatures.
