Commentary
And when they were not able to do anything except by the permission of Allah, and the painful thing for them was the lack of permission, the saying [indicates] the absence of a supporter for them or relief that would come to them: "And permission is not given" meaning from the one who gives permission, "to them" meaning in any speech at all. And when it was intended that there is no permission for them and there is no excuse from them without looking at the cause of their lack of permission, so that it would not be understood that they have an excuse but they did not express it due to the lack of permission, he said, raising an addition to "is not given" "and they will not excuse themselves." This indicates the denial of permission and the denial of any excuse after it absolutely. And if he had made it an accusative, it would have indicated that the reason for their lack of excuse is the lack of permission, which would contradict the meaning.
