Commentary
And when the reading of "they will depart" with the opening vowel indicated their compliance with the command without uttering a word, he clarified it by saying, indicating what they are in of anger and wrath: "This" meaning the situation which is one of the situations of that day, is called a day for the completeness of its rulings. Therefore, he said informing about the subject: "A day when they will not speak" meaning not a word will come from their lips due to the intensity of confusion and astonishment in some of the situations, and they will speak in others. For indeed, it is a long day with various colors - as Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said - or they will not speak with what benefits them because they were in this world not speaking with the oneness that would benefit them.
