And when he mentioned what is absent from him of the mountains of knowledge and kingship and others, he followed it with what the peaks reveal, informing that if the action were for nature, the matter would not be like this. For it does not bring forth these great mountains, with all that they have of size, stability, weight, and hardness, and other aspects of greatness, except by the chosen doer. This is in addition to what is preserved in their heights of waters that cause trees to grow and bring forth springs and rivers. Indeed, most of the water that comes forth is from them, and likewise, the majority of benefits from minerals and others. He said: 'And We made' meaning by what we have of greatness 'in it' meaning the earth 'firm mountains' otherwise it would have swayed with its inhabitants. And among the wonders is that its firm mountains are from above it, contrary to the firm bases of ships. 'Lofty' means [they are -] despite being stable in themselves, they are establishing for others throughout a truly great height, as if they have become proud over the rest of the earth and over those who wish to ascend them. The use of the indefinite article is for the purpose of magnification.

And when it was among the extraordinary phenomena that defy the norms, the boiling of water, which by nature should sink and not boil, due to the weight and subtlety that has been granted to it by the power of flow in the depths and in the fact that this is from a certain place in the earth and not another. And since it is from the mountains which are the foundation of the earth, and from its rocks, it is often a clear indication that the action is for the one chosen, the overpowering mountains, and not for nature. He said: 'And We gave you to drink' meaning We made for you by what we have of greatness a drink for your drinking and for the drinking of what you wish to have drink from, such as livestock, crops, and others. 'Water' from rivers and ponds and springs and wells and others 'sweet' meaning great, pure, and pleasing to drink, and it was indeed appropriate for it to be salty and bitter due to the lands that retain it.
