Commentary
And when he was brief in the recompense of the disbeliever, he followed it with the recompense of the grateful and elaborated on it, emphasizing the encouragement. For indeed, after the breaking of the threat to them, souls tremble at the slightest promise, even the least of it. So how about the most complete and the greatest of it? He said, resuming and affirming the denial of the disbeliever, clarifying by mentioning wine in this manner that they are in the utmost of what can be from the abundance of living, for it necessitates from drinking it all its prerequisites and complements: "Indeed, the righteous" specifically from the generality of the grateful, a plural of 'barr' like the plural of 'rabb', or 'bar' like the plural of 'shahid'. They are those whose aspirations have risen above the trivial matters, so the springs of wisdom appeared in their hearts, and they spent from the comforts of this world. "They drink" meaning what they desire to drink "from a cup" meaning wine - this was said by Al-Hasan, and it is a name for a vessel in which it is contained. "Its mixture was" meaning that which it is mixed with "camphor" meaning for its coolness, sweetness, and pleasant fragrance. And the mention of the act of existence indicates that it has a significant matter in the mixing, such that it is as if it is from the very nature, not as is commonly known.
