Commentary
'And from the night' (p-157) means some of it, and the rest is for rest by sleeping. 'So prostrate to Him' means to pray for Him the Maghrib and Isha prayers. And remember them with prostration to indicate that it is the best prayer. This is an indication that the night is a place of humility. The preference of the time for the night prayer is due to the increased effort and sincerity in it, and the greater virtue, because the focus in it towards the side of the Truth is more complete due to the absence of distractions for the senses from the movements of people, their voices, and other worldly conditions. Thus, it is further away from showing off, and therein is humility and complete pleasure with the sweetness of worship. 'And glorify Him' means with night prayer 'for a long time,' half of it or more than it or less. And perhaps it is called glorification because the struggle of standing in it and the dominance of sleep reminds one of Allah's greatness by being free from all deficiencies. And no one leaves his beloved rest in sleep except one who has Allah with him in the utmost purity and has for Him the utmost love.
